It seems like it really isn't a trend , officially, until Friedman says it is. I can't help but be reminded as I slogged through 60% of "The World is Flat" and how many times I read something to the effect of "This happened when I wasn't looking." or "I completely missed it."

Friedman's careful and effective presentation of the book was also on podcast. A lecture at the London School of Economics in the LSE podcast and recently re-published on Princeton's UChannel podcast.
