Barker won a Booker some time ago for a book in her WW I trilogy and she re-visits that terrain in "Life Class."&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;What struck me hardest was the gulf she describes between those who have witnessed and participated in war and those that haven't.&lt;br&gt;What can we do to bridge that awful gap when the troops come home from Iraq and Afghanistan?&lt;/p&gt;</description><dc:creator xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Deb</dc:creator><pubDate>Sun, 30 Dec 2007 15:51:40 -0000</pubDate></item></channel></rss>
